In honor of my friends Stacey and Ruth over at Two Writing TeachersI am resurrecting an old entry from my journal for Writer’s Notebook Wednesday. This is an entry I wrote during the George Ella Lyon session that Stacey writes about.
From my journal (writer’s notebook):
It is wet and humid. I am tired and sweaty. I look at the doorknob. I touch only the coffee table as I sit on it crossed legged. I hear silence. I touch only Tobi as she rests peacefully in the cradle of my legs. A sea of dark green carpet surrounds us separating us from the dark blue, burgandy and hunter green plaid of the sofa. I am wearing white shorts and my favorite navy blue Polo shirt. My eyes wide open behind the huge lenses of my navy blue frame glasses. I am 22 years old and scared stiff, telling myself that I should go to bed and stop thinking about it. Just when I have convinced myself to put my feet down and make a run toward the bedroom, another part of me speaks up saying that it would be crazy to move because a snake might be hiding anywhere. At least on this coffee table island in the middle of the dark green sea, I know that I am safe.
Love it Angela!!!!
